Update: Aerial Views added: D.C. Police close roads to buses, people on foot; estimate 1.2 million; ABC reports 2 million…912 – Party On Patriots!!
Above the fold updates-

MSNBC screen cap of the 912 march, CLEARLY the crowd stretched out beyond the 1 mill point based on USAToday’s report on how to gauge inaugural attendance!Via MM viewers who sent in pics and the USAToday schematic from the Inauguration on how to judge the size of the crowd. Excellent! (other pics after the break at the bottom of the post)
On the ground report from Matt Welch of ReasonTV here: “* Big crowd. Do not believe any description that says “thousands.” If there weren’t at least a healthy six figures there, I will permanently revoke my head-counting license…”
“…Songs included “Glory Hallelujah” and “My Country ‘Tis of Thee.” The most moving chant might have been when we walked past the Newseum, with its ginormous carving of the First Amendment on the side, and the crowd spontaneously said “Read that wall! Read that wall!”…”
courtesy of bucksogal-HorseofPaulRevere Reports: The march included more than 1,500,000 people by DC police estimates. Two different police confirmed that with me! I hope this conveys even a little the special feeling of that march. God Bless America!!

Best parts:
1: That there were so many people already overflowing Freedom Plaza into the streets that the march just “started itself” 2.5hrs early.2: When we got to the Capitol, and they were announcing that the didn’t have a permit for the mall, and everyone needed to come in on the lawn. And the crowd chanted back “WE OWN THE MALL!”. Permit or not, it didn’t matter, we filled the roads all the way back to the Washington Monument!
Freedom plaza at 9am was overflowing, and the river of people down Pennsylvania did not stop flowing for 3 hours and filled the front of the capital and down the mall…

We had an old twitpic of ‘close the gap 97′ rally, now deleted! thanks for the h/t!
More people attended than watch MSNBC or CNN…
912 twitpic by scottwgravesDaily Mail UK Foreign Press reports up to 2 million:
Up to two million people marched to the U.S. Capitol today, carrying signs with slogans such as “Obamacare makes me sick” as they protested the president’s health care plan and what they say is out-of-control spending.
The line of protesters spread across Pennsylvania Avenue for blocks, all the way to the capitol, according to the Washington Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency.
People were chanting “enough, enough” and “We the People.” Others yelled “You lie, you lie!” and “Pelosi has to go,” referring to California congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.
Demonstrators waved U.S. flags and held signs reading “Go Green Recycle Congress” and “I’m Not Your ATM.” Men wore colonial costumes as they listened to speakers who warned of “judgment day” – Election Day 2010…

This is just great, this is what we need for America to stand up and show what this country is country is realy made of the people not the Goverment!!
Amen and may we continue to have the strength to keep standing up – keep praying!

I was there with my husband & other family members. It was totally awesome & I have always been proud to be an American & Saturday’s march confirmed my feelings for this wonderful country! We must stand strong & continue to work to preserve the Constitution & our republic against those who want to destroy it. Stay united & get in a group. Teamwork is key!
Yes, you are right, absolutely. I continued to get comments all day from other people who noticed a very conspicuous absence of local newspaper coverage of marches in their areas – St. Petersburg FL was mentioned. I found that to be very interesting and i am still looking into it. Tonight a peer at work just mentioned, quite offhandedly … “well doesn’t the government actually own most of the newspapers and tv stations?” i could only nod in agreement, IT HAS BEEN AS IF some secret directive has been issued for alot of local papers IN BIGGER CITIES to “ignore the patriots” – Interesting huh?

Unfortunately, I could not get to DC, but did attend a tea party in Largo, at Gasoline Alley. Also, attended one in Lakeland, at Lake Eola Park, before that, Lykes Gaslight Park in Tampa. I am a changed person since experiencing these purposeful events. I love our country, and only wish some of those in government cared as much as we patriots do. We will prevail, of this I am certain. I look forward to my next tea party, and will continue to support this noble and necessary cause….to win our country back.
Chris, I belive the soul of the country itself is now stirring. I have that feeling repeatedly. The slumbering giant of the soul of America is waking up.
There is no force on earth that can stand against a spiritually awakened determined American. And we have God on our side and my soul can feel it.

my wife and myself shot over 1400 images of the event from 7:30 am until the end of the event. it will take a couple weeks to edit and organize a photo cd – we will make it available to anyone who attended- no charge other than mailing box and postage (about 10$) we made, and are still making history, not to mention getting our country back.contact us through our website -starznbarz.com
I would love to have a CD and woiuld be delighted to re-post some of your best images. When it is ready please contact me at

WE COULDN’T MAKE IT TO WASHINGTON, BUT WE WENT TO LARGO, FL. (GASOLINE ALLEY CAFE). THERE WAS A GREAT CROWD (HUNDREDS). THE ST.PETERSBURG PAPER DID NOT EVEN MENTION IT.
I was there. It was one of my proudest moments to be among the over 1.5 million like-minded Patriots and instant friends.
Although I could not attend – I am so proud of all of these wonderful people. Please let us not quit. Let us continue to be focused – let us start at the local level when elections take place. Let us all continue marching for the right to speak out. Let us continue the cause for freedom and justice, with governmental control, in this our beautiful country.
God Bless All Of You and God Bless the United States of America
Amen, Amen, Amen… I could not be there, but I am so proud I could burst. I was shouting for joy when I saw those videos, just shouting for joy. Now we move forward with pressure on the upcoming elections and yes, we organize locally to keep our message moving forward for the republic. I am concerned that we do not allw either DNC or GOP to try to claim this movement of the people for themselves and try to co-opt it. this is something that will trnascend politics as usual in the end. I believe a Higher Power is involved here. – Chase
I was unable to make it to Washington, but I have never felt more proud of our Citizens (not subjects, nor raciests) than when I saw that there were approx. 2 million in attendance.
What can anybody say except “GOD BLESS AMERICA” and her people.
I was there! Will never forget it. We need to do it again next year.
Couldn’t agree more with Linda….especially since I was part of her small group. Everyone around us was respectful, and honored America!! Let’s march immediatgely before the final health care vote!!!! WE NEED TERM LIMITS FOR ALL!!!
